Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We have included some FAQs, below, or if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Q: When will the new Soft Play and Climbing be open and will there will be a café/viewing area?

A: Soft Play and Climbing opens on the 1st December.  There will be an integrated café/viewing area serving a range of healthy hot and cold food and drinks, there will be WiFi available.

Q: Will instructors still be teaching Pedal X classes in the new studio.

A: Yes, we will continue the existing Pedal X programme.  We will also be introducing new Stages Flights (fully immersive) classes with an instructor, and virtual sessions without an instructor.

Q: Will the gym be closing at any point?

A: During November and December parts of the gym will be unavailable, we are doing our best to minimize any disruption to services.  Where this is unavoidable we will do all we can to offer alternative opportunities to exercise.

The gym will be completely closed for up to 4 hours on Friday 30th November while we install the new equipment upstairs and remove the old equipment downstairs.

Q: What will happen to the activities that normally take place in the Sports Hall?

A: In order to accommodate the New Soft Play and Climbing Facilities, the Sports Hall has been reduced in size from 7 to 5 badminton courts.  Whilst we appreciate this has caused some disruption to sport hall activities and private hirers, we are doing our best to accommodate all users in the new hall.  We also recognise the loss of the viewing gallery has impacted some activities, so we are working on a solution for this.

Q: Will be there a new dance studio?

A: We will be combining part of the existing Multi-Purpose Room, Operations Office and Spin Studio to create a new larger downstairs Studio.

Q: Will the Check-In system be upgraded?

A: We are working hard to streamline our processes to reduce queues at Reception.  The final phase of the refurbishment will include a remodelled Reception desk with 3 front facing terminals, as well as new fast track self-check-in stations.  This is due to be completed in summer 2019.

Q: How long will there be no Health Suite?

A: The Health Suite is scheduled to close early December and the new Spa facility will re-open summer 2019.

Q: Will there be Jacuzzi?

A: Unfortunately there will not be a Jacuzzi in the New Spa, for a number of reasons we have opted for a non-chlorine based environment to preserve the wooden structures of the steam room and sauna’s.

Q: If and when will the Crèche be open again?

A: We are working towards the solution of offering a crèche facility within Starjumps day nursery.  We will add updates to this page as and when they are available, or please register for updates.

Q: Will the new Spa be included in the existing membership?

A: No, we will be introducing a new Spa membership in summer 2019.  Existing members will be offered the opportunity to upgrade at a discounted rate.

Q: Will Spa be included in Swim style membership?

A: The Spa will not be included in Swim Style membership, but existing members will be offered the opportunity to upgrade at a discounted rate.

Q: Will membership prices go up?

A: If your membership is affected by the changes you will have received a letter from us.  If you have any questions please contact our Customer Relations Advisor about your individual membership.  We will conduct our annual price review in the New Year as normal.

This ambitious project, funded by Hertsmere Leisure Trust, who manage the sites on behalf of Hertsmere Borough Council, will be delivered by Alliance Leisure Services, the UK’s leading leisure development company, with leisure, design and build specialist Createability carrying out the work.

Take some time out for you this afternoon. With all the hand washing we’ve been doing our hands might need some tlc.

Here is a step by step guide for a manicure or pedicure.

1. File nails into desired shape
2. Gently push cuticles back with cuticle pusher or orange wood stick
3. Apply 1 layer of base coat and allow to dry
4. Apply 2 thin layers of chosen colour polish allowing each coat to dry before applying the next
5. Apply 1 layer of top coat to seal and protect the colour beneath
6.Regularly moisturise your hands and apply cuticle oil to help keep them nourished

You could also paint your Childrens nails or allow them to paint yours if you’re feeling brave!

We asked YOU if lockdown had been good or bad for your activity levels.
Results below ⬇️⬇️⬇️

We had 218 responses across our 5 centres and 56% of you have found lockdown has reduced your activity levels, and 44% have been more active. So it was a close result!

While we're really glad to hear that so many of you are active, these results show that lockdown has had an impact for some people.

We might be closed now, but we’re still here with some ideas that may help you pick up your activity levels💪, click bit.ly/2ZEAXZS

Hopefully we’ll be able to invite you back to your local centre soon! ❤️😀
